YO YO YO LISTEN UP IT’S AMELIA EARHART DAY!! This badass woman was the first aviatrix to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, and she established “The Ninety Nines,” an organization for female pilots. ALSO, she said no to her husband George Putnam’s proposals SIX TIMES before she finally said yes. THIS IS THE BEST PART. She wrote him a letter on their wedding day that said “I want you to understand I shall not hold you to any medieval code of faithfulness to me nor shall I consider myself bound to you similarly.” SO PRETTY MUCH she was like “Listen dude, I will never love your or anyone as much as I love flying, and the freedom of being in the air. I love you, but you can take it or leave it. I’m gonna go fly my plane now, peace.” Seriously, HOW COOL IS THAT. Happy Amelia Earhart Day, y’all!! #womancrushwednesday #AmeliaEarhartDay
